You Don't Have to Know Where to Start With Real Estate

You Don't Have to Have Real Estate Figured Out Before You Call a Realtor

One of the most common things people tell me is:

“We know what we want to do. We just don't know where to start.”

Maybe they want to buy their first home.

Maybe their current house doesn't work anymore.

Maybe they've talked about selling next spring.

Maybe they want to move but aren't even sure whether it's financially possible yet.

They assume they need to figure some of this out before talking to a Realtor.

You don't.

Real estate can feel complicated because there are a lot of moving pieces.

Financing.

Home values.

Contracts.

Inspections.

Appraisals.

Repairs.

Timelines.

Moving.

If you try to understand the entire process before taking the first step, it's easy to become overwhelmed.

Instead, figure out what the next step is.

If You're Thinking About Buying a Home in Billings

Your first step may not be looking at houses.

Before we start scheduling showings, it may make more sense to talk with a lender and understand your financing.

Then we can start answering questions like:

  • What monthly payment are you comfortable with?

  • What price range makes sense?

  • Which parts of Billings fit your needs?

  • What features actually matter to you?

  • What's your timeline?

Once those questions become clearer, looking at homes becomes much more productive.

If You're Thinking About Selling Your Billings Home

You don't have to be ready to put your house on the market before talking with a Realtor.

In fact, I'd often rather have that conversation earlier.

We can start by looking at:

  • What your home could realistically sell for

  • How much equity you may have

  • What improvements are worth considering

  • What you could potentially walk away with

  • Where you're going next

  • When listing would make the most sense

You may discover you're ready sooner than you thought.

Or we may decide the smartest strategy is preparing for six months and selling next year.

Both are good outcomes.

That's What a Guide Is For

You don't hire a real estate agent because you already understand every step of buying or selling a home.

You hire one because you don't have to.

My job isn't simply opening doors, putting a sign in the yard, or writing paperwork.

A big part of my job is listening to what you're trying to accomplish and helping you figure out how to get there.

You bring me the goal.

We'll build the plan together.

If you're thinking about buying or selling a home in Billings—even if you have absolutely no idea where to start—that's a perfectly good reason to reach out.
